Electrical Engineer – Intern

Lotus Power is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer Intern to support the design, development, and testing of advanced battery systems and power conversion technologies. The intern will work on battery management systems (BMS), DC-DC converters, and power electronics that enable efficient energy storage and delivery. This role offers hands-on experience in cutting-edge energy solutions within a collaborative engineering environment. Lotus Power has offices in Cairo, Egypt, and Vancouver, BC, Canada. This role is based in the Cairo office, the candidate can work remotely and be based in Egypt or abroad. The Electrical Engineer (intern) can work from home, and he/she needs to go to the office when it is needed. 

Lotus Power is a startup business, founded in 2024, that focuses on the design and development of beekeeping devices, farm management devices, and electrified systems. Lotus Power is seeking outstanding engineers and researchers who think outside the box and are keen on deploying research sciences to products through the product development process and R&D methodologies. 

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop battery systems, including battery management systems (BMS) and power converters.

Support the design and testing of power converters such as DC-DC converters and inverters.

Perform circuit simulation and analysis using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice, LTspice, or other simulation tools.

Analyze performance data and prepare technical reports with insights and recommendations.

Contribute to schematic design, PCB layout, and component selection.

Assist in prototype assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (embedded, mechanical, manufacturing) for system integration.

Qualifications:

BSc, MSc, or PhD student in Electrical, Mechatronics, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Basic understanding of power electronics, circuit analysis, and energy storage systems.

Familiarity with electrical lab equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, power supplies).

Knowledge of battery fundamentals (lithium-ion technologies, charging/discharging principles).

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Familiar with programming language (C/C++ and/or Python).

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with power converter design (buck/boost converters, inverters).

Familiarity with battery management systems (BMS)

Knowledge of control systems, embedded systems, and feedback loops.

Experience with simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice, PSpice).
